In 1912 the J.B. Moore family along with two young girls who were spending the night, were murdered with an axe. Forensic science in 1912 was not terribly advanced, and who the actual murderer was remains a
[ more photos ] mystery. J.B. Moore, Sara Moore, Herman, Katherine, Boyd, and Paul (their children), and Ina and Lena Stillinger (friends of young Katherine) were all brutally murdered with an axe on June 10, 1912.
Bacon was left on the piano and on one of the countertops in the kitchen. No one knows why although people have speculated that the killer perhaps rubbed himself down with bacon to keep from being picked up by tracking dogs.
Sara and J.B. were struck on the back of the head. One of the Stillinger girls was oddly arranged on the bed, in a position that seemed to suggest that she had been sexually violated in some way. All of the mirrors were covered with blankets. The doors and windows were covered as well.
Most seem to think that murderer hid in the attic for quite some time until the Moore family finally retired to bed. The train whistle was purportedly loud enough to keep the neighbors from overhearing the murders next door. Investigations have indicated that the murders may have happened when the 2:00 AM train rumbled through town.
There is a fairly long history of weirdness associated with the house following the murders. A number of different families lived in the Moore house after the murders. One rather large male tenant, for example ran out of the house in the middle of the night screaming. He slept out in the barn every night thereafter.

" we stayed on Nov 1 2009 very small creepy house we heard kids whispering as we were trying to fall asleep in the parents bed and the next morning when we woke up we had 3 balls in bed with us they werent there the night before we know this because we put our sleeping bag over the bed and layed on it on we all want to return "
" I have been here as well. Its sad if you know the history behind it. The one thing you should do, if you plan to go there is to sit quietly and wait for a train to pass. Note how the mood of the house changes. Its menecing. The experienes that I had were, 1. Through out the the night i had pains right underneath the base of the skull. which was weird becuase i was feeling great before i went inside the homestead. If you know the history the family was killed with an axe. The murder killed the family by crushing the back of thier skulls. Coincidence? 2. Is in the childerns room. A friend and I were sitting on one of the kids bed, and we were sitting pretty still just talking amongst our selfs, and asking questtions to the little kids spirits. And all of a sudden our bed shook, like as if some one just jumped on the bed to sit right next to you. 3. We did some mirror scrying to see if we could see anything. It was my turn and i sat there for a while and nothing. But just as i was going to leave my face was changing. It become serious, and mean. ( If you know me, im joyous, and im kind and sincere, so it was a great change in attitude) I grew a full beard, and my eyes became pitch black. Of coure I was startled, and i remeber everything vividly. These are just some things that happend there, so this place is a good start to investigate. "
" I have seen this on TV and i live really close to the city! "
" At a recent investigation I was pushed down the steps, locked in the attic TWICE. A ball chased one of us around the house. And many other happenings. WE will returen soon check out our myspace for details "
" It's a really small house though. Reminds me of the Amityville Horror house. "
" I've been to this place. It's freaky! "
