The History:
Scotts Bluff was established as a National Monument on August 5th, 1916.
Scottsbluff National Monument towers 800 feet above the North Platte River. It
[ more photos ] has been historically important as a natural landmark in the landmark-less Nebraskan prairies. People traveling the Oregon, California, Mormon and Pony Express Trails have utilized the Scottsbluff National Monument as a sign indicating that they were on the right path.
The Haunting:
According to Shadowlands, "There is a female spirit clad in white that walks along the base of the opposite bluff." She is particularly active in July and at the beginning of august between the hours of midnight and one in the morning.
Observations:
This is a grey/white/black lady report. Reports of paranormal incidents involving grey/white/black ladies are prolific. Often these are associated with love gone awry or lost children. It is unknown whether the ladies manifest as grey, white, or black, or whether these reports are more the result of folklore or fables of some sort. I would suppose that it may be a combination of these. It is interesting to note that the woman is most frequently reported between July and August (supposedly) and the park was established in early August.
